A useful fit for

Checking a complete older plastic 360 unit or choosing the correct replacement fittings for a fountain already owned.

The main tradeoff

Older official capacity figures conflict, and current availability, installed height and automatic low-water shutdown are not established.

Your needs, this model

Does it fit your priorities?

When I include older models, can this provide a plastic drinking surface with dishwasher permission and continuous outlet flow?

Yes. The exact D360-RE guide supports that combination after the electrical pump and adaptor are removed for cleaning.

When I include older models, can this plastic 360 provide continuous flow from a rechargeable main-unit battery?

No documented battery operating plan meets those conditions. The original setup requires the wired pump and wall adaptor.

When I include older models, is a verified nominal capacity of at least 3.5 liters established for this version?

No. The official 120 and 128 oz catalogue ratings conflict and the exact guide does not resolve the version difference, so this assessment cannot satisfy a firm numeric capacity requirement.

The Drinkwell Plastic 360 D360-RE is an earlier PetSafe fountain worth distinguishing from the stainless 360 when checking an existing unit or a remaining-stock offer. It combines a circular plastic bowl with a central tower, interchangeable stream rings and continuous outlet power. The attraction is access around the bowl and a choice of stream arrangements. Buying replacement parts by the word “360” alone is the main mistake to avoid: the plastic and stainless machines do not share every fitting.

Identify the plastic model before choosing parts

The D360-RE guide shows a plastic cone that twists to unlock from the bowl. The stainless PWW00-13705 instead uses three external clips to retain its cone. The plastic guide also shows an intake-tube holder and a cable route through the bowl. These are useful checks when comparing a seller's pictures with the unit you intend to buy or maintain.

For this model, the original parts table specifies PAC00-13115 for the plumbing kit, PAC00-13114 for the multi-stream kit and PAC00-13113 for flow adjustment. The stainless equivalents have other part numbers. Even where two products share a replacement pump or a carbon-filter reference, that does not establish interchangeable housings or whole assemblies. A complete used unit can therefore be easier to evaluate than a listing missing an unidentified fitting.

Five ring choices, with manual flow adjustment

The supplied design includes five spout-ring versions. You install the chosen ring above the filter housing, then fit the flow-control cap. Turning the cap changes the flow. The ring determines where water falls, while the cap changes its strength; neither is an app setting, a pet-approach sensor or an intake meter.

This arrangement suits a household willing to experiment with a quieter-looking single-stream setup or several streams around the cone. A higher stream count does not mean every cat will share the bowl comfortably. Position the fountain so there are useful approaches around it, watch the cats' behavior, and keep another accessible drinking location if one animal avoids the shared station.

The pump sits in the water and runs from a wall adaptor. A removable inline plug makes disassembly possible, but does not turn the fountain into a rechargeable model. If your preferred position lacks a practical outlet, compare an actual battery arrangement such as the PETLIBRO Dockstream PLWF115, taking care to choose a flow mode supported on that power source.

Capacity deserves an exact-version check

PetSafe's catalogue records are inconsistent for this older model: the 2018 catalogue lists 120 ounces, while another official catalogue lists D360-RE at 128 ounces. The exact quick guide explains filling and assembly without resolving that rating difference. Check the packaging and instructions supplied with a particular offer if a firm capacity minimum matters. This assessment leaves numeric capacity unconfirmed rather than promising the larger figure.

The guide's operational limits are more useful than assuming every nominal ounce is available to the pump. It says to leave half an inch below the rim when filling and keep water from falling below one inch above the bowl base. Regular checks remain necessary. Automatic low-water shutdown is not established, and the warning about pump failure is a reason to monitor the level rather than depend on an unseen safeguard.

Cleaning separates the pump from the plastic shell

The plastic body does not eliminate small recesses or wet fittings. To clean properly, unplug the adaptor, disconnect the inline connection and dismantle the unit. The cone unlocks, the intake tube lifts away and the pump comes out. Opening its faceplate exposes the stator and magnetic impeller so these parts can be cleaned separately.

The model's guide permits the other fountain parts on the dishwasher top rack, while expressly excluding the pump and adaptor. That makes dishwasher permission useful for the drinking bowl, without making this a one-piece dishwasher appliance. If lifting out an electrically empty reservoir is your main cleaning requirement, compare the Catit Easy Clean 43621 rather than assuming a detachable cable provides the same arrangement.

The specified carbon filter is PAC00-13712; the plastic model's foam reference is RF360-PRE. Its guide gives two to four weeks for carbon replacement and one to two months for foam, with water-only rinsing for filters. Those are routine consumables alongside cleaning, not substitutes for washing the bowl and opening the pump.

An earlier reference with a clear alternative

D360-RE is most useful to someone who specifically wants to maintain this plastic 360 arrangement or has confirmed the exact identity and completeness of a remaining-stock unit. Its manually adjustable streams and dishwasher-permitted bowl are concrete features; current availability, a particular replacement kit's inclusion and a reliable installed height still need checking for the offer.

For a new purchase without an existing investment in these fittings, the PWW00-13705 Stainless Multi-Pet has a current exact US page and a clearly stated gallon rating. The 128 oz Oasys offers a plastic open bowl with a different tower and flow-control arrangement. Choose the D360-RE for its specific circular plastic design, after checking parts and version, rather than treating every 360-labelled fountain as the same machine.

Key details at a glance

Reservoir and capacity limitsOfficial catalogues list both 120 and 128 oz for D360-RE; its exact guide does not resolve the difference. A verified nominal capacity is therefore unconfirmed. Follow the guide’s fill limits and inspect regularly.
Power arrangementThe electrical pump sits in the wet bowl and connects through an inline plug to a wall adaptor for continuous outlet operation.
Water flow and conditionsFive interchangeable ring versions and a manually adjustable cap set stream count and strength. The plastic cone twists to lock into its bowl.
Drinking surface and wet partsPlastic drinking bowl and cone, with separate tubing, filter housing, filter and a wired submerged pump. This is distinct from the stainless PWW00-13705.
Cleaning and source limitationsThe non-electrical plastic parts have top-rack dishwasher permission. Open the pump and clean it separately; exclude pump and adaptor from the dishwasher. Carbon replacement is every two to four weeks and foam every one to two months in the exact guide.
App and observation limitsThe physical cap and stream rings do not establish app intake records, individual attribution, wireless functions or automatic water-level safeguards.

Use the exact model’s instructions for operating limits, supplied equipment and version differences.
