Catit PIXI: choose the exact fountain and operating plan

The PIXI name covers several different fountains. A familiar shell or matching cat-shaped details do not tell you the reservoir volume, drinking-surface material, power plan or electronics. Start with the exact number on the package and then ask whether one documented operating arrangement meets your must-haves.

Start with the two steel-top choices

The PIXI Fountain with Stainless Steel Top #43720 is a straightforward outlet model. Its product page specifies a 2 L reservoir, continuous circulation and a stainless drinking top. The manual permits the stainless top in the dishwasher, but that permission is not for the pump or electrical assembly. A shallow pool remains available when circulation stops. Consider this one when you want that washable surface but do not need battery operation or app control.

The PIXI Stainless Steel UV-C Fountain #43761 is a larger and more involved configuration, not a cordless version of the 2 L model. Its documented capacity is 5 L; stainless parts, a rechargeable battery, a local display and a UV-C feature are included. On battery, choose sensor-triggered or timed flow. Continuous flow is available only while plugged into a compatible 5 V, 1 A supply, which is not included. The maker's up-to-45-day battery figure belongs to timed mode, not an assurance of that interval between refills or cleaning. Dishwasher permission applies to steel parts only. UV-C does not replace routine water changes or cleaning, and this model's manual does not establish app control or individual-cat drinking records.

Choose connected controls only if they solve a real problem

The PIXI Smart #43751 keeps a 2 L outlet setup and adds app controls on a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network. Its Geyser pattern runs for five minutes and pauses for fifteen; that is a schedule, not a pet-approach sensor. An app may help with remote setting changes, but it should not be mistaken for per-cat intake attribution. Its steel drinking part and UV-C feature are distinct from the higher-capacity battery modes of #43761. If you need uninterrupted stream, a local button-and-display routine or battery-triggered movement, read those exact mode descriptions rather than selecting on the shared PIXI name.

Keep the Mini's unknowns visible

The PIXI Mini #43705 is documented as an outlet-powered fountain with continuous pumping, an optional spout and a low-water pump shutoff. Its support page and manual do not state a confirmed reservoir volume or drinking-surface material, and they do not grant dishwasher permission. The compact-looking rendering is not a capacity measurement. Choose the Mini if those unknowns do not matter to your decision; if a minimum volume, steel surface or dishwasher-safe top is essential, an unknown specification is not a match.

Treat the ceramic #43700 as an earlier-model reference

The PIXI Ceramic #43700 has a separately documented 1.7 L glazed-ceramic body, a supplied adapter-powered pump, an optional arching spout and a retained front bowl. Catit describes the ceramic as dishwasher-safe; its exact manual still calls for unplugging, removing the pump and filter, gentle sponge cleaning and careful rinsing. The current U.S. fountain directory lists three PIXI designs but omits #43700. Its exact product, support and manual pages identify the earlier model, but current U.S. retail availability is not confirmed. Do not treat the exact review or an old seller listing as proof of current stock, and do not transfer its ceramic surface or 1.7 L capacity to the current Mini or steel models.

Do not carry features across color or family lines

The PIXI Classic #43715–43718 is the plastic-top, outlet-powered family with a retained front pool. Its current specification table conflicts between 2 L and 2.5 L, so the review deliberately leaves numeric capacity unresolved. The steel-top #43720, Smart #43751, Mini #43705 and UV-C #43761 have their own parts and operating instructions. A spare top, filter or optional spout does not turn one package into another model. Verify the model number, included adapter, filter and compatible replacement part before checkout.

Translate the choice into a care routine

Write down the actual setup: outlet and continuous flow; app-controlled outlet flow with a schedule; or a charged #43761 in sensor or timed mode. Then check where the cord or charging point will go, how the cat reaches the drinking surface, and whether the pump and wet components can be cleaned on the manufacturer's schedule. Reservoir volume is not a number of unattended days. Look at the water, refill when needed, replace the correct filter and inspect the pump even when an app or display is present. The finder treats unknown capacity and unknown material as unknown, rather than quietly borrowing a claim from a sibling PIXI.

Choose the daily drinking and cleaning routine.
