Power and placement

Match cordless placement to the actual water-flow mode

Separate three meanings of wireless

A fountain can connect to Wi-Fi, use a pump without an attached tank cable, or run from a rechargeable battery. These are separate capabilities. Only the last one directly answers whether the fountain can operate away from an outlet, and even then the available flow mode matters.

The older Dockstream changes behavior with power

The Dockstream PLWF115 has a 5000 mAh battery. Its exact manual distinguishes battery sensor operation from continuous operation on external power. In sensor mode, detection starts a 42-second flow. The detection area covers three sides, so the rear placement and the cat's approach deserve attention.

That is a practical fit for an outlet-free spot when sensor-triggered water is acceptable. It does not satisfy a requirement for both battery operation and an uninterrupted stream. Its wireless electrical pump also should not be confused with the dry-base motor arrangement used by newer detachable-tank designs.

Dockstream 2 has two different power configurations

The Plug-In PLWF106 needs external power. The Cordless PLWF116 includes a 5200 mAh battery. Both appear on the Dockstream 2 product page, making the selected model more important than the family name.

The PLWF116 offers continuous or sensor flow. Its advertised battery duration of up to 30 days is specifically based on a fully charged unit used by one pet in sensor mode. It is not a duration for continuous battery flow. Decide which mode the cat and room need first, then plan charging around actual use rather than the longest headline.

The PLWF116 starter package adds the specified splash shield and filter stock. It remains the same underlying power configuration. Extra filters and a shield do not increase battery capacity or convert single-pet intake recording into per-cat identification.

A timer is another kind of pause

The Plug-In Dockstream 2 offers continuous or timed flow. Catit's PIXI Smart has a separate Geyser mode that runs for five minutes and pauses for 15, as well as scheduling controls. Those are deliberate flow schedules, not a battery specification or a guarantee that water will start whenever a particular animal approaches.

Ordinary PIXI and Flower-family models use continuous plugged-in circulation. Changing a Flower spout changes the water presentation, not the power source or an electronic sensor setting. A shallow surface that retains some water while circulation is off is useful, but it is not continuing flow or a substitute for checking supply.

Choose one complete operating arrangement

Write the requirement as a complete sentence: “Battery operation with sensor flow,” “plugged-in continuous flow,” or “a controllable timed routine.” Confirm the exact model supports that arrangement. Keep the charging point, cord route, refill access and cleaning trip in the same plan. The finder can narrow the options once those priorities are clear.

Choose the daily drinking and cleaning routine.
