Your needs, this model
Does it fit your priorities?
Can I combine battery operation, pet-approach flow, a steel tray and a supplied UVC feature?
Yes. The Cordless family documents that battery sensor arrangement with its steel tray and supplied UVC-equipped setup. It is distinct from continuous plugged-in operation.
Explore this need in the finder →Can it provide continuous circulation while operating away from the outlet on its battery?
No. It automatically switches to motion-detected flow on battery. Continuous flow is documented when connected to power.
Explore this need in the finder →Does its wire-free pump prove an electronics-free reservoir with the drive entirely in the dry base?
Not confirmed. The pump assembly is removed from inside the bowl for hand cleaning; the read instructions do not establish that all motor and electronic parts stay outside the reservoir.
Explore this need in the finder →The PetSafe HydroSphere Cordless is useful when your cat's preferred drinking place is away from an outlet and approach-triggered water suits the household. Its rechargeable base powers a fountain with a stainless-steel drinking tray, a removable splash guard and a UVC-equipped pump. The main decision is how you want water to move: this model automatically uses motion-detected flow on battery power and continuous flow when plugged in. Those are two different operating arrangements, not two features you can freely combine.
Battery placement comes with sensor flow
The US family includes Black PWW00-18313 and White PWW00-18311 as color choices. Both belong to the same documented Cordless family. They should be distinguished from the separately specified HydroSphere Stainless PWW00-18275, whose wire-free pump does not establish battery-powered operation of the whole fountain.
For the Cordless model, PetSafe says the pump and lights turn on as your pet approaches and switch off when the fountain is not in use. The charging instructions explicitly say that connecting power produces continuous flow. Choose it for flexible placement if you are happy with that behavior. If your cat needs a stream already running before approaching, you may end up keeping the fountain plugged in, which reduces the placement advantage that attracted you to the battery model.
PetSafe's introduction advice offers a practical progression: let a cautious pet get used to the fountain while it is off, then try continuous plugged-in operation before moving to battery-triggered flow. There is no reason to rush that change. Consider where a pet approaches from, whether the lights turning on are distracting and whether the location still lets you check the bowl easily.
Charging is another ownership task
The base arrives partly charged and should be fully charged before first use. Its official dimension image marks a nine-inch span and a height of 6.75 inches. Leave extra space above that height to lift off the wet parts. Its USB-C port is underneath a rubber cover; the other end connects to a 5 V, 2 A USB-A adapter or outlet. The cable channel lets the base sit flat while connected. PetSafe permits the fountain to run while charging, so you can keep water circulating during that period if the bowl is assembled correctly.
The power indicator pulses blue while charging and becomes solid blue when fully charged. In battery operation, a solid red power light means less than 25 percent charge remains. Those cues help schedule charging, but they are not a promise of a fixed number of days away from the outlet. Pet visits and operating conditions matter. Inspect water and operation directly instead of using a battery light as your only daily check.
A steel drinking tray is only part of the water path
The supplied tray is stainless steel. Water also passes through a filter and pump, and the splash guard, bowl and base remain separate components. Choose this model because the drinking surface and cleaning arrangement suit you, rather than treating the steel tray as an all-steel water path.
The wireless pump sits in a recess inside the bowl and connects magnetically. That makes removal easier because there is no pump cord to thread through the reservoir. The pump assembly still sits inside the reservoir and must be removed and hand washed. A wire-free connection alone does not establish that all motor and electronic components remain outside the reservoir. For a design that keeps the electrical drive in a dry base, compare the different arrangement used by the PetSafe Outlast 90.
UVC is supplied with the Cordless pump. PetSafe describes it operating even when the pump is off. Treat it as an included equipment feature alongside the filter; the bowl, pump and water still need the stated care routine.
Separate dishwasher parts from the hand-washed pump
PetSafe permits the bowl, splash guard and tray in the top rack of a dishwasher. The pump must be dismantled and washed by hand, and the base is not waterproof or submersible. Cleaning therefore involves sorting the parts rather than putting the whole fountain in a dishwasher.
The support instructions call for pump and fountain cleaning every two to four weeks. They show removal of the pump faceplate, tube, stator and impeller so the interior can be cleaned. The Ion-X filter is replaced every three weeks; rinse its replacement as instructed and reset the reminder. A filter timer records elapsed use, not a measurement of how clean the bowl is today.
Capacity and alternatives
PetSafe names this a 60-ounce fountain and describes it as 1.7 liters. Treat it as a relatively small reservoir that needs regular checks, not a multi-day supply calculation. Water visible on the tray can coexist with a low level around the pump; PetSafe specifically tells owners to refill when the low-water light pulses, even if the tray still holds water.
Choose the HydroSphere Cordless when battery placement, automatic sensor flow and the steel drinking tray fit your cat's routine. Choose its Stainless sibling when continuous plugged-in circulation is what you plan to use. For comparison with another documented battery fountain, read the PETKIT EverSweet Max P4115 assessment, whose confirmed battery arrangement uses timed intervals. Compare the actual power and mode combinations before choosing. If removing and cleaning a wet pump is the chore you most want to avoid, start with the Outlast design instead.
Key details at a glance
| Reservoir and capacity limits | Named 60 oz model; manufacturer describes 1.7 L capacity. Matching uses its stated 1.7 L rather than converting ounces into a larger assumed usable volume. Capacity does not establish days between refills. |
|---|---|
| Power arrangement | Rechargeable base: automatic motion flow away from an outlet, continuous while connected to a 5 V, 2 A USB-A supply. A USB-C-to-USB-A cable is listed; check the suitable adapter you will use. Black PWW00-18313 and White PWW00-18311 are US finish choices. |
| Water flow and conditions | Battery means approach-triggered flow; plugged-in means continuous circulation. These modes cannot be combined into continuous battery flow. |
| Drinking surface and wet parts | Stainless steel drinking tray over a multi-part bowl, pump, filter and splash-guard assembly. A steel drinking surface does not describe every wet component. |
| Cleaning and source limitations | Bowl, splash guard and tray are top-rack dishwasher safe; pump must be disassembled and hand washed. Base is not waterproof or submersible and is wiped only. Clean fountain/pump every two to four weeks and as needed; replace Ion-X filter every three weeks and reset timer. |
| App and observation limits | Local indicators concern elapsed filter time and water level, plus battery state. They do not establish app intake records, Wi-Fi, individual pet identification or a drinking-area nightlight. |
| Confirmed body height | 6.75 in |
