PetSafe compact bubbling fountains: steel or ceramic?

PetSafe’s Seaside Stainless, Creekside Ceramic and Drinkwell Seascape are all bubbling, outlet-powered fountains with a submerged pump. The differences that matter are the drinking surface, named capacity and how clearly the source material documents bowl access—not a change to battery operation or a dry motor base.

Pick the surface first

The Seaside Stainless PWW00-17099 has a 60 US fluid ounce stainless bowl and tower. PetSafe describes it as a 360-degree design. It is the direct fit when stainless is essential where the pet drinks and you want open access around the tower.

The Creekside Ceramic PWW00-17097 keeps a 60-ounce label and the same documented 360-degree access, but changes the bowl and tower to light-gray ceramic. That is a material choice, not a smarter pump, battery mode or reduction in maintenance. The pump still sits in the water, and PetSafe’s care instructions call for cleaning it separately.

The Drinkwell Seascape PWW00-16021 is the larger ceramic option at 70 ounces. Its exact support page describes a quiet, continuously circulating open bowl but does not make the same 360-degree claim as the other two. Do not add that feature because the product silhouette looks similar. Choose this one for its 70-ounce nominal label and ceramic design, not an unverified change in approach angles.

Compare capacity without making a time promise

Sixty US fluid ounces converts to about 1.77 liters; 70 ounces converts to about 2.07 liters. That difference can be useful when choosing between the Seascape and the 60-ounce models, but it does not say how many days the water will last. Spills, evaporation, debris and the household’s number of pets affect refill frequency. Check the water level often. Each guide also warns that the submerged pump needs water above a minimum depth and can be damaged if run dry.

All three keep the pump-cleaning task

The manuals and current support pages document continuous, plug-in operation. These are not rechargeable fountains, and their submerged pumps do not lift out as a dry motor base. An open bowl remains physically accessible while the pump is stopped, but circulation does not continue during an outage. None of the three is documented here with app drinking records or pet-approach sensor flow.

There is a practical dishwasher distinction: the manufacturer permits the large bowl and tower parts on the top rack, while excluding the pump and electrical adapter. The manuals also identify rubber seals or grommets and filter media that must be handled separately. “Dishwasher safe” does not mean put the fully assembled fountain into the machine. Take the pump apart, clean its internal pieces by hand, rinse new carbon filters, and keep soap away from filter media.

PetSafe’s usual instructions specify cleaning the fountain and pump every two to four weeks, changing the carbon filter every two to four weeks and changing the foam filter every one to two months. Follow the exact setup guide for the model, especially when routing the pump cord and seating the seal. For Creekside, the support articles also recommend checking ceramic pieces for cracks if water appears underneath. For the older Seascape guide, rely on its exact model-number match for setup, while using the current product page for its ceramic surface description.

Simple choice by household need

  • Require stainless steel: choose Seaside, accepting its 60-ounce size and submerged-pump cleaning.
  • Prefer ceramic with 360-degree access: consider Creekside at 60 ounces.
  • Prefer ceramic and want the larger named reservoir: consider Seascape at 70 ounces, while treating its 360-degree status as unconfirmed.

If battery placement, app-based intake records, automatic low-water shutdown or an electronics-free lift-off tank is essential, compare a different documented operating design. A stainless or ceramic bowl does not provide those features by itself.
