Layout and ownership

Raised bowls or a refill reservoir? Three Drinkwell layouts

A raised drinking dish and a large capacity label solve different household problems. The PetSafe Drinkwell Multi-Tier PWW00-13708, Pagoda PWW00-13907/PWW00-14898, and Platinum PWW00-13703 all use an outlet-powered circulating pump, but they put the water and cleaning work in different places. Choose by the animal's preferred drinking height, the surface you need, and the parts you are willing to wash—not by the shared Drinkwell name alone.

Choose the Multi-Tier for two connected heights

The current U.S. Multi-Tier is a BPA-free plastic, 100 oz fountain with an upper and lower bowl plus one non-adjustable falling stream. At 2.96 liters nominal, it falls just below a strict 3 L minimum. The two levels give a cat more than one approach height, and water left in the open bowls is still reachable if the pump stops; circulation itself still requires the plugged-in pump. If those multiple access points matter more than adjustable flow, read the Multi-Tier assessment for its minimum-water warning, filter interval, and component-by-component dishwasher limits.

Choose the Pagoda for ceramic and twin streams

The current white and Himalayan blue Pagoda share a reviewed 70 oz ceramic configuration with two falling streams and a raised upper dish. Its bowl-and-tower layout also offers two drinking heights, but it does not have the Multi-Tier's 100 oz label or a flow adjustment. PetSafe's current product page permits top-rack washing while the exact Pagoda guide strongly prefers hand-washing the ceramic pieces; the pump remains out of the dishwasher. The Pagoda makes more sense when ceramic is essential and 70 oz suits the refill routine, not merely because its shape looks taller.

Choose Platinum for a reservoir and adjustable flow

The current Platinum PWW00-13703 is listed at 168 oz, about 4.97 L, and uses a rear refill reservoir to replenish its bowl. One falling stream has a physical flow control, but the pump still sits submerged in the wet bowl and needs outlet power. This is a larger nominal capacity with a different fill arrangement, not a two-level drinking station; a strict 5 L minimum is also slightly above its stated ounce capacity. See the Platinum assessment before assuming the removable rear reservoir is a dry-base pump or a cordless setup.

Compare care as well as layout

All three manuals require owners to keep the pump supplied with water and clean it separately. Top-rack permission applies only to the specified non-electrical pieces, never to a pump, adapter or filter. Filter models and replacement intervals vary, so do not carry one fountain's part number across to another. The Multi-Tier is a plastic bowl-and-tier design, the Pagoda is ceramic, and Platinum's reservoir-and-bowl layout uses plastic. For a no-outlet need, compare a documented battery fountain or passive gravity station instead: water that remains in a bowl during an outage is not powered flow. Before buying, check the exact height and footprint against your room; the current Multi-Tier page's two unlabeled dimensions do not establish its assembled height.
