Plan the tank, filter and pump cleaning separately
Build the care routine around the wet parts
A filter replacement, a tank wash and a pump or impeller clean are separate jobs. Changing the filter does not remove deposits from the rotor chamber. Rinsing the drinking top does not clean the hidden water path. Before choosing a fountain, look at the disassembly drawing and decide where each job will happen.
Use the exact model's intervals
The standard PIXI instructions recommend cleaning the fountain and rinsing its filter every three days, cleaning the pump weekly, and replacing the filter after three to four weeks or earlier when necessary. The Mini Flower follows a similarly frequent care pattern, but uses its own filter parts. A shared maintenance idea does not establish interchangeable cartridges.
The new Easy Clean 43621 instructions distinguish a three-day fountain/filter-rinse routine from weekly impeller and impeller-opening care. The motor remains in the dry base, so the wet moving part still has a cleaning job. The original Flower, LED Flower and Steel Flower instructions describe weekly maintenance and three-to-four-week filter replacement, with earlier changes for dirt or obstructed flow.
An alert is a reminder, not an inspection
The PIXI Smart app's 30-day filter and 60-day pump reminders do not make it reasonable to ignore visible dirt until those dates. Its supplied care instructions and the actual condition of the parts remain relevant. A calendar notification cannot see every deposit or obstruction.
There are also edition-specific differences in Petlibro guidance. The Dockstream 2 US manuals call for weekly internal cleaning and filter replacement, while the product page and reminder cycle refer to two weeks. The older PLWF115 and RFID PLWF305 describe two-week care or filter intervals. Read the precise instructions for the model in your box and resolve conflicting guidance with the manufacturer rather than choosing the longest interval by default.
Wash only the components that are permitted
Unplug or otherwise isolate the unit as its instructions require before disassembly, and keep the electrical base out of the washing water. A dishwasher-safe steel top does not confer the same permission on every attached part. Use the specified cleaning tools and rinse away cleanser as directed. Follow the filter's preparation instructions separately; a filter is not another plastic part to scrub with soap. The Mini Flower's documented soak time, for example, should not be replaced with a shorter time borrowed from another fountain's cartridge.
Make replacement parts part of the buying decision
Check the exact filter code and any pump, rotor or prefilter part you will need. Similar-looking Flower models can use different consumables. Extra cartridges in a bundle are useful stock, but they do not extend the replacement interval or remove the need to rinse and inspect the fountain.
Choose the fountain whose complete routine fits your household. If the main obstacle is lifting a corded assembly to the sink, compare a detachable tank. If dishwasher cleaning is essential, require explicit permission for the components you expect to wash. Keep the daily level and surface check separate from the scheduled deep clean.
